0506 10 — Ossein and bones treated with acid
Ossein and bones treated with acid
Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.
Machine translation. The original is the Russian text of the EAEU tariff, and customs goes by it; this translation is for understanding only and has no legal force.

0506 Bones and horn shafts, untreated, fat-free, primary treated (without forming), or wrought with acid or degelatinized; powder and waste of these products: 0506 10 – ossein and bones treated with acid 0506 90 – other
The products of this heading are used mainly as carving material, for the manufacture of glue and gelatin or as fertilisers. This heading covers: (1) bones and horn-cores (the bony interior of horns), unworked or defatted (bones from which the fat has been removed by various methods of treatment); (2) bones simply prepared (but not cut to shape), i.e., merely having excess parts sawn off or cut (lengthwise or crosswise), sometimes followed by rough trueing or bleaching. The heading therefore excludes rectangular (including square) plates, sheets and other shapes, whether or not polished or otherwise worked, and articles obtained by moulding bone powder; all these goods fall in heading 9601 or in other more specific headings; (3) bones treated with acid, i.e., bones in which the calcareous part has been dissolved by hydrochloric, or muriatic, acid and which, while retaining their original shape, contain only the cellular tissue and cartilaginous parts (ossein), readily converted into gelatin; (4) degelatinised bones, from which the gelatin has been removed by steam treatment and which are usually in powder form (steamed bone meal); (5) powder and waste of bones (including crushed bone), e.g., those obtained in the course of working bone.
