1520 — Glycerol, crude; glycerol waters and glycerol lyes

Glycerol, crude; glycerol waters and glycerol lyes

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

1520 Glycerin raw; glycerol water and glycerol lye

Raw glycerol is a product with a thickness of less than 95% (in terms of dry matter). It can be obtained by breaking down fats or oils or synthetic eskies from propylene. It varies in quality depending on the method of production, for example: (1) obtained by hydrolysis with water, acids or more lochs, - a sweetish liquid of a pleasant smell, in color from yellowish to brown; (2) obtained from glycerin alkali - a pale yellow liquid with an unpleasant odor and astringent taste; (3) obtained from the residues of soap making - a blackish-y yellow liquid with a sweet taste (sometimes resembling garlic if with more impurities) and a more or less unpleasant odor (4) - a large amount of organic and an unpleasant odor. Raw glycerol can also be obtained by transesterification of oils or fats with other alcohols. This heading also includes glycerin water, which is a by-product of the production of fatty acids, and glycerin lye, which is a by-product of soap making. This heading does not cover: (a) glycerin of a purity of 95% or more (in terms of dry matter) (heading 2905); (b) glycerin prepackaged as a medicinal product or with additives of pharmaceutical substances (heading 3003 or 3004);

(c) flavoured glycerin or glycerol with cosmetic additives (Chapter 33).

decantation within a normal period of time,

centrifugation or filtration, provided that only mechanical force such as gravity, pressure or centrifugal force (excluding any adsorption filtration process or any other physical or chemical process) has been used to separate the oils from their solid constituents;

(b) non-volatile oils of vegetable origin in liquid or solid form obtained by extraction shall continue to be considered “raw” if they cannot be distinguished by color, smell, taste or recognized special analytical properties from oils and fats of vegetable origin obtained under pressure;

(c) the term “raw oils” includes soybean oil refined with hydration and cotton oil purified from gossypol.
