Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

2524 Asbestos: 2524 10 crocidolite 2524 90 other

Asbestos is a natural mineral substance obtained as a result of the decomposition of certain rocks. It has a very characteristic fibrous structure; sometimes it looks silky, its color varies widely, being usually white, it is sometimes gray, greenish, blue or dark brown. Its main property is resistance to fire and acids. Crocidolite is a type of ribekite asbestos. It lies in the form of fibrous beams in acidic magmatic rock with a high alkali content, as well as in metamorphic rock. The color varies from no-blue to black or dark green and can be either translucent or partially matte. Crocydolite asbestos, also known as blue asbestos, has greater tensile strength, but less resistance to heat and less elastic fibers compared to other types of asbestos; it is acid resistant, but not resistant to detergents. It is considered the most dangerous type of asbestos. This heading includes raw asbestos in the form of rock, untreated asbestos coming to the surface in the form of veins or washed fibres, whether limited in length or not, asbestos in the form of flakes or powder, and asbestos waste. This heading does not include further processed fibres (combed, dried, etc.) and finished articles of asbestos (heading 6812).
