7303 — Tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron

Tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

7303 Pipes, tubes and profiles hollow, cast iron casting

This heading covers pipes, tubes and hollow profiles made of cast iron, in accordance with note 1 to this chapter. They can be made by casting in casting molds or centrifugal casting; in the latter case, the molten cast iron enters a horizontal cylinder, which rotates at high speed, and the metal, under the influence of centrifugal forces, is pressed against the walls on which it hardens. These pipes, tubes and hollow profiles can be straight or curved, with a flat surface or ribbed. They can be connected by sockets, flanges, welding or twisting. To facilitate assembly, pipes with sockets should have one extended end to insert the end of the other pipe into it. Pipes with flanges are connected by clamps, nuts, bolts, braces, etc., while pipes with threads and smooth pipes are collected using clutches, sealing rings or clamps. This heading also includes pipes, tubes and hollow profiles having several openings or branches, and coated, for example, with zinc, plastic, bitumen. The pipes and tubes of this heading are used principally for pressure or flowing pipes for water, sewerage, for a low-pressure distribution network, as storm trays or drainage pipes.

This heading does not cover: (a) pipe or tube fittings (heading 7307); (b) pipes, tubes and hollow profiles assembled into identifiable parts of articles which are classified in the relevant headings, such as, for example, sections of central heating radiators (heading 7322) and parts of machinery (section XVI).

Notes to chapter 73 — Articles of iron or steel 3 items

Notes

English text as published in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2021/1832 (Combined Nomenclature). The EAEU tariff and the EU nomenclature copy these notes from the same convention. For a Russian declaration the binding version is the Russian one: Annex to Decision No 80 of the EEC Council of 14 September 2021.

1. In this chapter, the expression ‘cast iron’ applies to products obtained by casting in which iron predominates by weight over each of the other elements and which do not comply with the chemical composition of steel as defined in note 1(d) to Chapter 72.

2. In this chapter, the word ‘wire’ means hot- or cold-formed products of any cross-sectional shape, of which no cross-sectional dimension exceeds 16 mm.

Additional note

Machine translation. The original is the Russian text of the EAEU tariff, and customs goes by it; this translation is for understanding only and has no legal force.

1. Drilling pipes are used for descent into a borehole and lifting a rock-destroying tool, transferring rotation, creating an axial load on the tool, supplying a washing fluid or compressed air to the bottom. There are ordinary, weighted and leading drill pipes.

Ordinary drill pipes (heading 7304) - usually one-piece round cross-section, are connected by means of drill locks or semi-locks with special large conical threads.

Weighted drill pipes (heading 8431) are usually round or square cross-sections with an increased wall thickness; they are also connected by thread and serve to increase the stiffness of the lower part of the column and to place a load on the rock-destroying tool.

Leading drill pipes (heading 8431) - multifaceted cross-section, are placed at the top of the column of drill pipes and transmit it rotation from the rotator of the drilling rig.
