76 — Aluminium and articles thereof

Aluminium and articles thereof

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Notes to chapter 76 — Aluminium and articles thereof 6 items

Subheading notes

Machine translation. The original is the Russian text of the EAEU tariff, and customs goes by it; this translation is for understanding only and has no legal force.

1. The terms used in this chapter mean:

(a) "non-alloy aluminum" means a metal containing at least 99 % by weight of aluminium, provided that the mass content of each of the other elements does not exceed the limits specified in the following table:

Other elements

Element

Maximum content, wt.%

Fe+Si

(iron plus silicon)

1.0

Other elements (each of them)

0.1

Other elements include, for example, Cr, Cu, Mg, Mn, Ni, Zn.

Copper content is allowed in quantities greater than 0.1 wt.%, but not more than 0.2 wt.%, provided that the content of chromium or manganese is not more than 0.05 wt.%.

(b) "aluminum alloys" means metal alloys in which the aluminium content by mass exceeds that of each of the other elements contained in the alloy, provided that:

(i) the mass content of at least one of the other elements or iron and silicon taken together will exceed the mass limit indicated in the table; or

(ii) the total content of other elements is more than 1% by weight.

2. Notwithstanding the provisions of note 9 (c) to section XV, for the purposes of subheading 7616 91, the term “wire” means only articles rolled up or not rolled into coves and with any shape of cross-section not exceeding 6 mm.

Additional note

1. In subheading 7601 20 200, the following terms mean:

- "slabs" - raw products having a continuous cross-section throughout the length in the form of rectangles or other polygons, with a width of more than 800 mm, a thickness of more than 280 mm and a length always exceeding the width and thickness. These products are intended for rolling;

- "tickets" - raw products having a continuous cross-section in the form of circles (including "flattened circles"), with a diameter of more than 125 mm. These products are designed for extruding.

1. For the purposes of subheading 7606 12 200 2, the term “multilayer panels” means a flat, multilayered material consisting of two outer aluminium sheets coated and one or more layers of filler forming an inner layer or core.
