Moulding boxes for metal foundry; mould bases; moulding patterns; moulds for metal (other than ingot moulds), metal carbides, glass, mineral materials, rubber or plastics: moulds for rubber or plastics: injection or compression types

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

8480 Foldings for metallurgical production; foundry pallets; foundry models; molds for casting metals (except moulds), metal carbides, glass, mineral materials, rubber or plastics: 8480 10 - Foldings for metallurgical production

8480 20 - casting pallets 8480 30 - casting models - molds for casting metals or metal carbides: 8480 41 - for casting by blowing or under pressure 8480 49 - - other 8480 50 - molds for casting glass 8480 60 - molds for casting mineral materials - molds for casting rubber or plastics: 8480 71 - for casting by blowing or under pressure 8480 79 - other

This heading includes metal casting plates, foundry pallets and foundry models, with some exceptions, which will be discussed below, and includes all casting molds (whether suspended or used for casting by hand or on presses or molding machines) which are of the types used for casting the following ingots or finished products: (I) Metals and metal carbides. (II) Glass (including molten quartz or other molten silica) or mineral materials such as, for example, ceramic compounds, cement, gypsum or concrete. (III) Rubbers or plastics. As a rule, the main function of the mold is to hold the material within a given mold until it hardens; some molds also exert some pressure on the material. But this heading does not include stamps for the presses of heading 8207 because they give the material the desired shape solely by a powerful shock or compression (for example, stamps for minting sheet metal articles). (A) PROVISIONS FOR METALLITE PRODUCTION They are a frame, usually made of ferrous metals and having a rectangular or round shape. They contain molds for casting, obtained by sealing the molding mixture around the model. (B) foundry pallets They are plates placed under the lower casting forms. (C) Foundry Models This includes foundry models, foundry rods, rod boxes, model plates, etc., used in the preparation of sand molds (and usually made of wood). (D) Forms for casting metals (other than shells) or metal carbides:

(1) Permanent moulds (chill moulds). These take the form of a metal casing consisting of two or more adjustable parts which reproduce, as a cavity, the shape of the articles to be cast. (2) Die-casting moulds, into which the molten metal is forced under pressure. They usually consist of two complementary permanent metal moulds, the cavities of which correspond in configuration to the opposite sides of the required articles; in some cases the halves of such moulds compress the molten metal to a certain extent. (3) Moulds for sintering metal powders. These moulds are heated. They are sometimes also used for sintering metal carbides or ceramic powders. (4) Cylindrical moulds for centrifugal casting machines (e.g., for casting cast-iron pipes, gun barrels). (E) MOULDS FOR GLASS This category includes: (1) Moulds for casting glass blocks, bricks or paving slabs, and press moulds for glass tiles. (2) Bottle moulds for hand or machine working, including pedal-operated moulds (e.g., blank or finishing moulds, ring moulds). (3) Moulds for casting hollow glassware, insulators, etc. (4) Moulds for glass-making machinery. (5) Moulds of steel or cast iron for making blanks for lenses or spectacle glasses, etc. (F) MOULDS FOR MINERAL MATERIALS This category includes: (1) Moulds for ceramic pastes (e.g., moulds for the production of bricks, pipes or other articles of ceramic materials, including moulds for the production of artificial teeth). (2) Moulds for concrete, cement or asbestos-cement articles (pipes, baths, paving stones, paving slabs, deflectors, balustrades, architectural ornaments, slabs for walls, floors or roofs, etc.). The category also includes moulds for making prefabricated structural elements of reinforced or prestressed concrete (window frames, parts of vaulting beams, railway sleepers, etc.). (3) Moulds for agglomerating abrasives in the manufacture of grinding wheels. (4) Moulds for plaster or for exterior or interior plastering mortars (e.g., for toys, statuettes, decorative ceiling elements). (G) MOULDS FOR RUBBER OR PLASTICS This category includes: (1) "Chamber" moulds for vulcanising tyres. These consist of two adjustable metal moulds, heated by steam or

by means of an electrical device, which enclose a special ring-shaped bag inflated with air (air bag) or a bag filled with hot water (water bag). Such a bag presses the tyre tightly against the surfaces of the mould. (2) Moulds for moulding or vulcanising various rubber articles. (3) Moulds for making plastic articles, whether or not heated electrically or otherwise; they may operate with the material fed into them by gravity or by injection or compression. The heading also covers moulds for preforming (pre-tabletting). These use a cold process for forming moulding powders into tablets, each containing the appropriate quantity of material (and having the appropriate shape and volume) ready for final moulding into the desired article. The heading also excludes: (a) Forms used in the manufacture of articles (e.g., gloves) by dipping the form into liquid rubber, plastics, etc. (classified according to their constituent material). (b) Moulds made of graphite or other carbon (heading 6815). (c) Moulds of any kind made of ceramics (heading 6903 or 6909, as the case may be). (d) Moulds made of glass (heading 7020). (e) Ingot moulds (heading 8454). (f) Moulds for the manufacture of semiconductor devices (heading 8486). (g) Matrices and masters for the production of gramophone records (heading 8523). (h) Subject to the exclusions mentioned above, moulds designed for use in presses or other machines for forming materials other than those mentioned in the heading text (classified as parts of the machines for which they are intended).
