Revolvers and pistols (excl. those of heading 9303 or 9304 and sub-machine guns for military purposes)

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

9302 Revolvers and pistols other than those of heading 93 03 or 9304

This heading covers revolvers and pistols, irrespective of calibre, capable of firing any projectiles (other than signal flares) by means of an explosive charge, and designed to be held and fired with one hand. Revolvers are single-barrelled weapons having a revolving cylinder. Pistols have one or more barrels. They may also have interchangeable barrels. Semi-automatic pistols have a magazine which can be loaded with several cartridges, the trigger having to be pulled to fire each cartridge. The heading includes miniature pistols and revolvers; it also covers weapons made in the form of other articles, e.g., pencils, pocket knives or cigarette cases, provided they are in fact firearms. The heading does not cover weapons capable of automatic fire (i.e., weapons which use pistol ammunition and continue firing after the trigger is pulled until the magazine is empty or the trigger is released); these weapons fall in heading 93 01 as submachine guns (machine pistols). They can be fired with one hand but usually have folding stocks. The heading also excludes: (a) captive-bolt humane killers, Very pistols for firing signal flares, pistols or revolvers for firing blank ammunition (with solid or blocked barrels or with a tapered bore) for giving the starting signal at competitions, theatrical dummy pistols, muzzle-loading "black powder" pistols not designed for, and not capable of, firing cartridged ammunition (heading 9303); (b) spring, air or gas pistols (heading 9304).
