Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

2501 Salt (including table salt and denatured salt) and sodium chloride, pure, dissolved or not dissolved in water, or containing or not containing additives agents that prevent clumping or provide leakage; sea water
This heading covers sodium chloride, commonly known as salt. Salt is used for culinary purposes (edible salt, table salt), but also has many other uses and, where necessary, may be denatured, which renders it unfit for human consumption. The heading covers: (A) Salt extracted from the earth: – either by ordinary mining methods (rock salt), – or by extraction of brine (water is forced under pressure into the salt bed and returns to the surface as saturated brine). (B) Evaporated salt: – salt (sea salt) obtained by natural evaporation of sea water under the action of the sun; – refined salt obtained by evaporating saturated brine. (C) Sea water, brine and other saline solutions. The heading also covers: (1) Salt (namely table salt) which has been slightly iodised, phosphated, etc., or treated so as to remain dry. (2) Salt to which anti-caking or free-flowing agents have been added. (3) Salt which has been denatured by any treatment. (4) Residual sodium chloride, in particular that remaining after chemical processing (e.g., electrolysis) or obtained as a by-product of the treatment of certain ores. The heading excludes: (a) Salted seasonings, such as celery salt (heading 2103). (b) Solutions of sodium chloride, including sea water, put up in ampoules, and sodium chloride otherwise packed, presented as medicaments (Chapter 30), as well as solutions of sodium chloride put up in packings for retail sale for hygienic purposes, other than medical or pharmaceutical products, whether or not sterile (heading 3307). (c) Cultured crystals of sodium chloride, each weighing not less than 2.5 g (other than optical elements) (heading 3824). (d) Optical elements of sodium chloride (heading 9001).

Notes
Machine translation. The original is the Russian text of the EAEU tariff, and customs goes by it; this translation is for understanding only and has no legal force.
1. Unless otherwise specified in the context of or in note 4 to this chapter, this chapter includes only products raw or washed (including with chemicals that remove impurities without changing the structure of the product), crushed, ground, powdered, sifted, enriched by flotation, magnetic separation or other mechanical or physical processes (except crystallization). Products which have been roasted, calcined, mixed or processed by methods not specified in each heading are not included in this chapter.
Products of this group may contain additives of dust suppressant, provided that this does not alter the properties of the product, making it suitable for specific rather than conventional use.
2. This group does not include:
(a) freeze-dried, precipitated or colloidal sulfur (heading 2802);
(b) mineral dyes containing 70 % or more by weight of chemically bound iron in terms of Fe2O3 (heading 2821);
(c) medicinal products or other products of Chapter 30;
(d) perfumes, cosmetics or toiletries (Chapter 33);
(e) dolomite padding mixture (heading 3816);
(f) paving stones, curbstones or paving boards (heading 6801); mosaic cubes or similar articles (heading 6802); slate for roofing, cladding or waterproofing (heading 6803);
(g) precious or semi-precious stones (heading 7102 or 7103);
(h) crystals of sodium chloride or magnesium oxide, artificially grown (other than optical elements), each weighing not less than 2.5 g (heading 3824); optical elements of sodium chloride or magnesium oxide (heading 9001);
(ij) billiard crayons (heading 9504); or
(k) pencils for writing or drawing, pencils for tailors (heading 9609).
3. Any products which may be classified either in heading 2517 or in any other heading of this Chapter shall be classified in heading 2517.
4. Heading 2530 covers, inter alia: vermiculite, perlite and chlorites, unfoamed; natural pigments, whether or not calcified, mixed or unmixed; natural mica oxide of iron; sepiolite (in polished or unpolished pieces); amber; sepiolite agglomerated and amber agglomerated, in plates, rods, sticks, or similar forms, not processed after casting; gagatron (black yanthronate), or with brontrontrontone; or with ambertrontrontone.
