2520 10 — Gypsum; anhydrite

Gypsum; anhydrite

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

2520 Gypsum; anhydrite; gypsum binders (representing calcined gypsum or calcium sulfate), okre achenic or unpainted, containing or not containing small amounts of accelerators or moderators: 2520 10 gypsum; anhydrite 2520 20 gypsum binder gypsum is a natural hydrated calcium sulfate, usually white and crumbling.

Anhydrite is a natural anhydrous calcium sulfate used in the production of sulfuric acid or certain types of gypsum binders. Gypsum binders are gypsum, partially or completely dehydrated by calcination. A feature of gypsum is that during calcination it loses part of its odes, forming plaster binders, which harden when mixed with water. In order that the gypsum binders do not grasp too quickly, small amounts of moderators are often added to the calcined gypsum. For special purposes, gypsum is calcified until all water is lost, and a small amount of spruces such as alum (Kina cement or English cement) are added. Similar gypso binders are made by adding alum to natural anhydrite. All these prepared plaster binders are classified in this heading. This heading also includes: (1) Gypsum binders, brought to grinded into flour consistence, for use in processing fabrics or coating paper. (2) Gypsum binders containing additionally added coloring substance. (3) Gypsum binders that have been specially calcified or finely ground for use in filling and teeth, containing or not containing small amounts will slow down firs or accelerators. This heading does not cover plaster-based formulations for dental purposes (heading 3407).

Products which have been roasted, calcined, mixed or processed by methods not specified in each heading are not included in this chapter.

Products of this group may contain additives of dust suppressant, provided that this does not alter the properties of the product, making it suitable for specific rather than conventional use.

2. This group does not include:

(a) freeze-dried, precipitated or colloidal sulfur (heading 2802);

(b) mineral dyes containing 70 % or more by weight of chemically bound iron in terms of Fe2O3 (heading 2821);
