Umbrellas and sun umbrellas (including walking-stick umbrellas, garden umbrellas and similar umbrellas): other: having a telescopic shaft

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Machine translation. The original is the Russian text of the EAEU tariff, and customs goes by it; this translation is for understanding only and has no legal force.

Explanatory notes to heading 6601 3 paragraphs

Machine translation from Russian. The original is the EEC explanatory note, and that is what a classification dispute is argued from; the translation is for understanding and has no legal force.

6601 Umbrellas and sun umbrellas (including canes, garden umbrellas and similar umbrellas) (+): 6601 10 – garden umbrellas or similar umbrellas – other: 6601 91 – having a sliding rod 6601 99 – other

Apart from umbrellas and sunshades clearly of the toy or carnival article type (Chapter 95), this heading covers all types of umbrellas and sunshades (e.g., "ceremonial" umbrellas, tent umbrellas, walking-stick umbrellas and folding seat umbrellas, café, market, garden and similar umbrellas), irrespective of the materials of which the various components of these articles are made (including attached accessories and trimmings). Thus the covers and cases may be of any textile material, plastics, paper, etc., and they may be embroidered, trimmed with lace, fringes or other trimmings. Walking-stick umbrellas are umbrellas with a rigid case which gives the article the appearance of a walking-stick. Tent umbrellas consist of very large umbrellas with a large covering forming a tent which can be secured to the ground (e.g., by means of pegs in the manner of a camping tent or by pockets for sand holding down the covering from the inside). Umbrella sticks (shafts) are usually of wood, cane, plastics or metal. Handles may be of the same material as the sticks (shafts), or they may be wholly or partly of precious metal or of metal clad with precious metal, ivory, horn, bone, amber, tortoise-shell

tortoiseshell, mother of pearl, etc. In addition, such articles may be set with precious or semi-precious stones (natural, synthetic or reconstructed), etc. Handles may also be covered with leather or other material and trimmed with tassels or ribbons. The heading excludes: (a) umbrella cases or similar articles, presented with umbrellas or separately, but not attached to these articles. (These fall in their appropriate headings); (b) beach tents which differ from umbrellas or tent-type umbrellas (heading 6306). Subheading Explanatory Note. Subheading 6601 10 Umbrellas which are not designed to be carried in the hand but to be fixed (e.g., in the ground, on a table or on a stand) are to be regarded as "garden or similar umbrellas". This subheading therefore covers umbrellas for courtyard benches, easels, garden tables, surveyors' tables, etc., and tent-type umbrellas.
