7117 90 — Imitation jewellery (excl. jewellery, of base metal, whether or not clad with silver, gold or platinum)

Imitation jewellery (excl. jewellery, of base metal, whether or not clad with silver, gold or platinum)

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

For the purposes of this heading, the term 'imitation jewellery', as defined in Note 11 to this Chapter, is restricted to small objects of personal adornment such as those listed in paragraph (A) of the Explanatory Note to heading 7113, e.g., rings, bracelets (other than watch bracelets), necklaces, ear-rings, cuff-links, etc., but excluding buttons and other articles of heading 9606, and dress-combs, hair-combs and similar articles or hairpins of heading 9615, provided that they do not incorporate precious metal or metal clad with precious metal (except as plating or, as defined in Note 2 (A) to this Chapter, as minor constituents, e.g., monograms, ferrules and rims), or natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones (natural, synthetic or reconstructed). This heading also covers unfinished or incomplete articles of imitation jewellery (ear-rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc.), such as: (a) semi-finished split rings consisting of anodised aluminium wire, usually twisted, or surface-worked, with or without a rough clip, sometimes used without further working as ear-rings; (b) base metal ornaments, whether or not polished, made up of small links assembled into bands of indeterminate length. It should be noted that articles of personal use normally carried in the pocket, in a lady's or man's bag or on the person, such as those listed in paragraph (B) of the Explanatory Note to heading 7113 (cigarette cases, powder boxes, etc.), are not regarded as imitation jewellery. This heading also excludes: (a) articles referred to in Note 3 to this Chapter; (b) articles of heading 8308 (buckles, buckle-clasps, fasteners, hooks, eyes, etc.).
