Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Machine translation from Russian. The original is the EEC explanatory note, and that is what a classification dispute is argued from; the translation is for understanding and has no legal force.

7612 Barrels, drums, banks, boxes and similar containers (including rigid or deformable tubular containers) aluminum for any substances (except compressed or liquefied gas) with a capacity of not more than 300 liters, with cladding or with thermal insulation or without them, but without mechanical or thermal equipment: 7612 10 - containers deformable tubular 7612 90 - other

The provisions of the Explanatory Note to heading 7310 also apply, mutatis mutandis, to this heading. Aluminium casks and drums are used mainly for the transport of milk, beer, wine, etc.; aluminium cans and boxes are often used for packing foodstuffs. The heading also includes rigid tubular containers (e.g., for pharmaceutical products such as pills or tablets) and collapsible tubular containers for creams, toothpastes, etc. The heading excludes: (a) Articles of heading 4202. (b) Biscuit barrels, tea caddies, sugar tins and similar household or kitchen boxes and containers (heading 7615). (c) Cigarette cases, powder boxes, tool cases and similar containers for personal or professional use (heading 7616). (d) Articles of heading 8304. (e) Ornamental boxes (heading 8306). (f) Containers specially designed and equipped for carriage by one or more modes of transport (heading 8609). (g) Vacuum flasks and other vacuum vessels, complete, of heading 9617.

1. The terms used in this chapter mean:

(a) "non-alloy aluminum" means a metal containing at least 99 % by weight of aluminium, provided that the mass content of each of the other elements does not exceed the limits specified in the following table:

Other elements

Element

Maximum content, wt.%

Fe+Si

(iron plus silicon)

1.0

Other elements (each of them)

0.1

Other elements include, for example, Cr, Cu, Mg, Mn, Ni, Zn.

Copper content is allowed in quantities greater than 0.1 wt.%, but not more than 0.2 wt.%, provided that the content of chromium or manganese is not more than 0.05 wt.%.

(b) "aluminum alloys" means metal alloys in which the aluminium content by mass exceeds that of each of the other elements contained in the alloy, provided that:

(i) the mass content of at least one of the other elements or iron and silicon taken together will exceed the mass limit indicated in the table; or

(ii) the total content of other elements is more than 1% by weight.

2. Notwithstanding the provisions of note 9 (c) to section XV, for the purposes of subheading 7616 91, the term “wire” means only articles rolled up or not rolled into coves and with any shape of cross-section not exceeding 6 mm.

1. In subheading 7601 20 200, the following terms mean:

- "slabs" - raw products having a continuous cross-section throughout the length in the form of rectangles or other polygons, with a width of more than 800 mm, a thickness of more than 280 mm and a length always exceeding the width and thickness. These products are intended for rolling;

- "tickets" - raw products having a continuous cross-section in the form of circles (including "flattened circles"), with a diameter of more than 125 mm. These products are designed for extruding.
