9002 20 — Filters, optical, being parts of or fittings for instruments, apparatus and appliances, framed or mounted
Filters, optical, being parts of or fittings for instruments, apparatus and appliances, framed or mounted
Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Machine translation from Russian. The original is the EEC explanatory note, and that is what a classification dispute is argued from; the translation is for understanding and has no legal force.
9002 Lenses, prisms, mirrors and other optical elements, of any material, mounted, being parts of or fittings for instruments or apparatus, other than such elements of glass not optically worked: – Objective lenses: 9002 11 – – For cameras, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers 9002 19 – – Other 9002 20 – Filters 9002 90 – Other
With the exception of spectacle lenses (which, when mounted in frames, constitute spectacles, lorgnettes or similar optical appliances of heading 9004), this heading covers the articles referred to in Items (B), (C) and (D) of the Explanatory Note to heading 9001, provided they have a permanent mounting (i.e., are set in a holder, frame, etc.) suitable for fitting in an apparatus or instrument. The articles of this
heading are intended mainly for combining with other parts in the construction of a particular instrument or part of an instrument. The heading excludes mounted optical elements which constitute separate articles in themselves, e.g., hand magnifying glasses (heading 9013) and mirrors for medical or dental purposes (heading 9018). Subject to the above conditions, the heading covers: (1) Objective lenses, supplementary lenses, colour filters, viewfinders, etc., for photographic or cinematographic cameras or for projectors. (2) Polarising filters for microscopes or polarimeters. (3) Eyepieces and objectives (including polarising ones) for astronomical instruments, binoculars or refracting telescopes, microscopes, etc. (4) Mounted prisms for instruments or apparatus for physical or chemical analysis (polarimeters, etc.). (5) Mounted mirrors for telescopes, projectors, microscopes, medical or surgical instruments, etc. (6) Optical elements (lenses and prisms) for lighthouses or beacons, mounted on panels or drums. (7) Mounted lenses clearly identifiable as equipment for optical benches. (8) Mounted screens for half-tone or similar printing. An objective in an optical instrument is a system of lenses which, when directed at an object, produces an image of it. It may be a single lens, but it is usually a group of lenses in one mounting. Eyepieces are optical systems (placed near the eye) through which a magnified image is observed. The heading excludes: (a) optical elements with temporary mountings intended solely for protection during transport (heading 9001); (b) mounted glass mirrors, optically worked, which are not suitable for fitting to instruments or apparatus (e.g., certain rear-view mirrors, chimney or sewer inspection mirrors and special mirrors for observation in wind tunnels) (heading 9013); (c) sets of lenses in cases, designed for insertion in special frames for sight testing (used by oculists) (heading 9018).
