9010 60 — Projection screens
Projection screens
Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Machine translation from Russian. The original is the EEC explanatory note, and that is what a classification dispute is argued from; the translation is for understanding and has no legal force.
9010 Apparatus and equipment for photographic (including cinematographic) laboratories, not specified or included elsewhere in this Chapter; negatoscopes; projection screens: 9010 10 – apparatus and equipment for automatically developing photographic (including cinematographic) film or photographic paper in rolls or for automatically printing onto photographic paper in rolls 9010 50 – other apparatus and equipment for photographic (including cinematographic) laboratories; negatoscopes
9010 60 – projection screens 9010 90 – parts and accessories
(I) APPARATUS AND EQUIPMENT FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC (INCLUDING CINEMATOGRAPHIC) LABORATORIES, NOT SPECIFIED OR INCLUDED ELSEWHERE IN THIS CHAPTER This category includes: (A) Automatic machines for developing photographic film in rolls or for printing developed film on photographic paper in rolls. (B) Special tanks for developing films. They may be of metal, plastics, ceramics, etc.; they usually incorporate devices such as supporting rods, baskets for removing films from the solution. Some developing tanks are also used for washing, fixing and rinsing films. (C) Special dishes (of plastics, stainless steel, enamelled sheet steel, etc.) clearly designed for use in photography, but excluding articles which can also be used for other purposes (e.g., for general use in laboratories or hospitals). (D) Negative washing tanks, including rotary washers. (E) Print dryers, glazers and dryer-glazers (single-sided, double-sided, rotary types, etc.); drying machines (hand-operated, etc.); rubber squeegee rollers; polished stainless steel plates and chromium-electroplated plates, clearly designed for fitting in these articles or used separately. (F) Printing frames, including vacuum printing frames (of metal or of metal and wood), for contact printing; printing machines (for professional or amateur photographers, etc.); illuminated frames, without developing device, for exposure only. (G) Film-cutting machines and apparatus of the kind used in photographic (including cinematographic) laboratories. (H) Special retouching frames for negatives. (IJ) Presses for dry transfer of pigment prints, for use in photography. (K) Specialised machines and apparatus used in cinematographic laboratories, such as: (1) film developing machines, whether or not automatic; (2) machines for slitting or trimming film (e.g., for cutting 35 mm film into two 16 mm films); (3) cinematographic printers and cinematographic enlargers and reducers (optical printers); (4) machines producing optical effects; (5) sound-control units for editing and synchronising sound films;
(6) Recording apparatus which reproduces on paper tape a "slowed-down" and enlarged image of the sound track on the film, for use in synchronising and dubbing; (7) film-cleaning machines; machines for treating worn negatives before reprinting; combined cleaning and treating machines; negative-cleaning machines; (8) waxing machines for applying a thin coat of wax along both edges of the emulsion-coated side of the film; (9) splicers (joining presses) (hand- or pedal-operated, etc.); (10) film-editing equipment. It may be fitted with a sound head and a viewing head. Such apparatus may be used, for example, for synchronising picture and sound. Separately presented viewing heads and devices fitted with sound heads, which are used together with film viewers on synchronising tables, also fall in this heading. However, separately presented sound heads are excluded from this heading (heading 8522); (11) machines for numbering film copies by perforation; (12) film-handling editing tables; they are fitted with reel rewinding devices. Special film rewinders for rewinding negatives (e.g., after printing); film measurers and footage counters for checking the length of films (separately presented counting mechanisms are excluded, see heading 9029); (13) titling machines; (14) film viewers for editing printed cinematographic film. These viewers may be combined with sound-recording or sound-reproducing apparatus. (L) Viewers for still images, used for examining photographic negatives in photographic laboratories. (M) Specialised equipment used in reproduction work (other than photocopying apparatus of heading 8443), e.g., apparatus for developing specially sensitised paper by ammonia vapour. (II) NEGATOSCOPES Negatoscopes are used mainly for examining medical radiographs or X-ray photographs. They may be of very different types, ranging from wall-mounted light boxes to automatic radiograph viewers fed from a cassette. (III) PROJECTION SCREENS These screens are used in cinemas, schools, lecture halls, etc. They include projection screens for three-dimensional presentation; also portable screens, rolled up and packed in a case or contained in boxes, for mounting on tripods, on tables or for suspension from the ceiling.
They are often made of fabric coated with white or silver paint or with glass beads (microspheres), or of sheets of plastics; these fabrics or sheets are usually perforated. However, to fall in this heading they must be clearly identifiable (e.g., by means of borders or rims, eyelets for suspension). PARTS AND ACCESSORIES Subject to the provisions of Notes 1 and 2 to this Chapter (see the General Explanatory Note), parts and accessories identifiable as suitable for use solely or principally with the apparatus and equipment of this heading are also classified here. This heading also excludes: (a) photographic studio equipment (including cinematographic studios), such as lighting apparatus, reflectors, floodlights, electric lamps and tubes of all kinds, sound-effects equipment, microphone booms, scenery, etc.; these fall in their appropriate headings; (b) screens for half-tone or similar printing (headings 3705, 9001, 9002, etc., as the case may be); (c) machines of all kinds for cutting paper or paperboard (heading 8441); (d) apparatus for projecting or drawing mask patterns on sensitised semiconductor materials (heading 8486); (e) loudspeakers, microphones and audio-frequency electric amplifiers, other than those presented with any of the apparatus of this heading and forming an integral part thereof (heading 8518); (f) cameras for recording documents on microfilm, microfiche or other microforms (heading 9006); (g) X-ray fluorescent and intensifying screens (heading 9022); (h) exposure calculating discs and rules (heading 9017); exposure meters, photometers, densitometers, colour temperature meters (heading 9027); (ij) hand-operated stamps for numbering (heading 9611).
