Optical microscopes for photomicrography, cinephotomicrography or microprojection (excl. fitted with equipment specifically designed for the handling and transport of semiconductor wafers or reticles, and stereoscopic microscopes)

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

9011 Complex optical microscopes, including microscopes for microphotographing, microfilming or microprojection: 9011 10 stereoscopic microscopes 9011 20 microscopes for microphotographing, microfilming or microprojection, other 9011 80 microscopes other 9011 90 parts and accessories

While the enlargers of heading 9013 have only one degree of increase in relatively small force, the complex optical microscope of this heading has a second stage of magnification for observing an already enlarged image of an object. A complex optical microscope typically comprises: (I) an optical system consisting essentially of a lens designed to produce an enlarged image of an object and an eyepiece that further enlarges the observed image. This optical system also usually contains means for illuminating the object from below (with the help of a mirror illuminated externally or entering into a mirror).

complete with light source) and a set of condenser lenses which direct the beam of light from the mirror onto the object. (II) A stage for the specimen under examination, one or two eyepiece-holder tubes (according to whether the microscope is of the monocular or binocular type) and an objective holder (usually revolving). The whole is mounted on a stand to which handles or brackets and various adjusting devices may be attached. This heading covers microscopes used by amateurs, teachers, etc., and microscopes designed for industrial use or for research laboratories; they are classified in this heading whether or not they are presented with their optical elements (objectives, eyepieces, mirrors, etc.). This heading includes universal microscopes; polarising microscopes; metallurgical microscopes; stereoscopic microscopes; phase-contrast and interference microscopes; reflecting microscopes; microscopes with drawing attachments; special microscopes for inspecting the jewels in watch and clock movements; microscopes with heated or cooled stages. Special-purpose microscopes include: (1) Trichinoscopes – a type of projection microscope used for examining pork suspected of containing the worm that causes trichinosis. (2) Microscopes for measuring or checking operations in certain manufacturing processes; they may be of conventional types or special models designed for mounting on machinery. They include comparator microscopes (for comparing the surface finish of precision articles with that of a standard article); coordinate-reading microscopes (for determining the position of watch parts); toolmakers' microscopes or other measuring microscopes (for checking threads, profiles, gear-cutting hobs or cutting-tool profiles, etc.); small portable microscopes designed to be placed directly on the object to be examined (for Brinell hardness testing, for printing type, printing blocks, etc.); centring microscopes (fitted to the spindles of machine-tools in place of the cutting tool, for setting the workpiece in the correct position before machining), etc. Some of the last-mentioned instruments (e.g., those for checking the profile of workpieces) may be equipped with projection devices, usually in the form of a small circular screen mounted above the microscope. (3) Laboratory measuring microscopes, e.g., for measuring the distances between the lines in spectrograms. (4) Surgical microscopes used by surgeons when operating on a very small area of the body. Their light sources provide independent light paths which produce a three-dimensional image. This heading also covers: (A) Photomicrographic microscopes and cinephotomicrographic microscopes. In addition to visual observation of specimens, these microscopes permit photographic recording of the magnified images. They may consist either of a microscope permanently incorporating a photographic or cinematographic camera (usually specially designed for the purpose),

Or from an ordinary microscope, to which, with the help of simple devices, a photo or movie camera can be temporarily attached. Separately presented photographs or film cameras for microphoto or microfilm photography are not included in this heading (heading 9006 or 9007, respectively). (B) Microscopes for complex magnification microprojection. They are used for horizontal or vertical projection of images enlarged by the microscope contained in the apparatus. They are equipped with special microscopes that allow you to quickly change focus, and are used in educational, scientific and medical demonstration halls, technical laboratories, etc. Subject to the provisions of Notes 1 and 2 to this Chapter (see General Clauses), parts and accessories identifiable as intended action solely or principally for use with microscopes are also included in this heading. These include: racks (brackets, bases, etc.); eyeglass-holder tubes and rotating lens-holder tubes (with or without lenses); sample subject tables (including tables with heating or cooling); guides for samples; optical devices that allow you to draw an image; levers for adjusting the aperture, etc. This heading also does not include: (a) subject or cover glass for specimens (heading 7017); (b) ophthalmic microscopes of a binocular type (heading 9018); (c) prepared diapositives for examination under a microscope (heading 9023); (d) microtoms; refractometers (heading 9027); (e) profile projectors and other apparatuses with optical devices for the control of mechanical parts other than microscopes or microprojectors, e.g., of commercial stands (heading 9031).
