Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Electrical lamps and lighting fittings of this heading may be equipped with lamp-holders, switches, flex and plugs, transformers, etc., or, as in the case of fluorescent strip fixtures, a starter or a ballast. This heading covers in particular: (1) Lamps and lighting fittings normally used for the illumination of rooms, e.g.: hanging lamps; bowl lamps; ceiling lamps; chandeliers; wall lamps; standard lamps; table lamps; bedside lamps; desk lamps; night lamps; water-tight lamps. (2) Lamps for exterior lighting, e.g.: street lamps; porch and gate lamps; special illumination lamps for public buildings, monuments, parks. (3) Specialised lamps, e.g.: darkroom lamps; machine lamps (presented separately); photographic studio lamps; inspection lamps (other than those of heading 8512); non-flashing aerodrome beacons; shop window lamps; electric garlands (including those fitted with fancy lamps for carnivals or entertainment or for decorating Christmas trees). (5) Portable lamps (other than those of heading 8513), e.g.: hurricane lamps; stable lamps; hand lanterns; miners' lamps; quarrymen's lamps. (6) Candelabra, candlesticks, candle brackets, e.g., for pianos. This category also covers searchlights and spotlights. These throw a concentrated beam of light (usually adjustable) over a distance to illuminate a given point or surface by means of a reflector and lenses or of a reflector only. The reflectors are generally of silvered glass or of polished, silvered or chromium-plated metal. The lenses are generally plano-convex or stepped (Fresnel lenses). Searchlights are used in particular for anti-aircraft defence, and spotlights for stage settings and in photographic and film studios. (II) ILLUMINATED SIGNS, ILLUMINATED PLATES BEARING A NAME OR TITLE, OR AN ADDRESS, AND SIMILAR ARTICLES
This category covers advertising lamps, illuminated signs, illuminated plates bearing a name or title, or an address (including road signs) and similar articles, such as advertising boards and house numbers of any material, provided they have a permanently built-in light source. PARTS The heading also covers identifiable parts of lamps and lighting fittings, illuminated signs, illuminated plates bearing a name or title, or an address and similar articles, not more specifically covered elsewhere, for example: (1) Suspension fittings (rigid or chain) for hanging lamps. (2) Holders for glass globes. (3) Bases, handles and housings for hand lamps. (4) Burners for lighting fittings; housings for gas lanterns. (5) Frames for lanterns. (6) Reflectors. (7) Chimneys for lighting fittings or lamps (bottle-neck type, etc.). (8) Small cylinders of toughened glass for miners' lamps. (9) Light diffusers (including alabaster diffusers). (10) Spheres, bowls, shades (including wire frames for shades), globe shades and similar articles. (11) Chandelier trimmings, such as balls, pear-shaped drops, flower-shaped pieces, other pendants, small plates and similar goods, identifiable by their size or by their fixing parts or fastening devices. Non-electrical parts of articles of this heading, combined with electrical parts, remain classified here. Electrical equipment presented separately (e.g., switches, lampholders, flexible cords, plugs, transformers, starters, ballast resistors) is excluded from this heading (Chapter 85). The heading also excludes: (a) candles (heading 3406); (b) resin torches (heading 3606); (c) signs, name-plates, address-plates and similar articles, unlit or lit by a light source which is not built in (heading 3926, Chapter 70, heading 8310, etc.); (d) printed globes with interior lighting, of heading 4905; (e) lamp wicks of woven, plaited or knitted materials (heading 5908); (f) glass beads and small ornamental glass shapes (e.g., fringes) made up of glass beads or bugles strung together, for decorating lampshades (heading 7018); (g) electrical lighting or signalling equipment for cycles and motor vehicles (heading 8512); (h) electric filament lamps, discharge lamps (including sealed beam lamp units and ultra-violet or infra-red lamps, as well as tubes of various intricate shapes, such as scrolls, letters, figures, stars, etc.), arc-lamps and light-emitting diode (LED) lamps (heading 8539);
