1802 00 — Cocoa shells, husks, skins and other cocoa waste
Cocoa shells, husks, skins and other cocoa waste
Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

1802 Scars, shells, skins and other waste cocoa
This heading covers waste from the production of cocoa powder or cocoa butter. Some of this waste can be used to further extract cocoa butter. All of them can be used to extract theobromine. In small quantities, they can also be added to animal feed. In ground form, they are sometimes used instead of cocoa powder, which they resemble in smell, but not in taste. This heading covers (1) husks, shells and skins separated during the roasting and grinding of cocoa beans. They contain small pieces of the kernel (remaining attached to the husk, shell or skin and difficult to separate from them), from which some cocoa butter can be extracted. (2) The germs of cocoa beans produced by the passage of cocoa beans through the so-called dejerminator or germ separator. They contain almost no fat. (3) Cocoa dust obtained from husk cleaning in sorting machines; usually a sufficiently high fat content in this product is cost-effective for extraction. (4) Cocoa cake (produced from the extraction of cocoa butter from waste cocoa: shells, husks or skins containing pieces of the kernel, or from whole beans). These cakes contain particles of shells, husks and skins and are therefore unsuitable for the production of cocoa powder or chocolate. This heading excludes cocoa cakes without shells, husks and skins obtained from the extraction of cocoa butter from cocoa paste (heading 1803).
