1804 Cocoa butter, cocoa fat
Cocoa butter is a fatty substance contained in cocoa beans, which is usually obtained by hot pressing cocoa pastes or whole cocoa beans. Low quality cocoa butter, often called cocoa fat, is also obtained from spoiled cocoa beans or from various kinds of waste cocoa (hulls, shells, dust, etc.) either by pressing or extraction with appropriate solvents. At room temperature, cocoa butter is usually a solid substance, slightly oily slurred, yellowish-white in color; it smells like cocoa and has a pleasant taste. It is usually imported in plates and used in the manufacture of chocolate (for the enrichment of cocoa paste), in the production of confectionery (for the preparation of some sweets), in perfumery (for the extraction of essential oils by enfleurage), in the production of cosmetics and in pharmacy (for the preparation of ointments, candles, etc.).

1. This chapter does not cover:
(a) food preparations containing more than 20 % by weight of sausage, meat, meat offal, blood, insects, fish or crustaceans, molluscs or other aquatic invertebrates, or any combination thereof (Chapter 16);
(b) preparations of headings 0403, 1901, 1902, 1904, 1905, 2105, 2202, 2208, 3003 or 3004.
2. Heading 1806 includes sugar confectionery containing cocoa and, subject to note 1 to this chapter, other food preparations containing cocoa.
