Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Duty rate
7.5%

This is the base rate. A tariff quota, a preference for the country of origin and a tariff exemption lower it; anti-dumping and special duties are paid on top of it

7009 Glass mirrors, framed or unframed, including rear-view mirrors: 7009 10 rear-view mirrors for vehicles - other: 7009 91 - frameless 7009 92 - framed

The term "glass mirrors" means glass one of the surfaces of which is coated with metal (usually silver, sometimes platinum or aluminium) in order to give a bright, clear reflection. Silvering uses a dilute ammoniacal solution of silver nitrate (mixed with a solution of a reducing agent based on potassium sodium tartrate or invert sugar). These substances are poured onto the previously thoroughly cleaned surface of the glass. When the silver salts are reduced, a firm and brilliant layer of metallic silver forms on the glass. In platinising, platinum chloride is applied to the glass with a brush and the glass is then heated almost to softening point. This ensures a closely adhering metallic coating. The metallic coating (especially silver) is given a protective layer, sometimes consisting of one or more coats of varnish or of an electrolytic copper coating, itself protected by a coat of varnish. This heading covers mirror sheets whether or not further worked. It also covers mirrors of various shapes and sizes, e.g., mirrors for furniture, for the interior decoration of houses, for railway carriages, etc.; toilet mirrors (both hand and wall types); pocket mirrors (whether or not in cases). The heading also covers magnifying or reducing mirrors and rear-view mirrors (e.g., for vehicles). All these mirrors may be mounted on a backing (of paperboard, textile fabric, etc.) or framed (in metal, wood, plastics, etc.), and the frame may in turn be trimmed with other materials (fabric, shells, mother of pearl, tortoise-shell, etc.). Mirrors designed to stand on the floor or ground (e.g., mirrors on a movable frame (cheval glasses – swinging mirrors) or pier glasses such as those installed in tailoring workshops or shoe shops) are also covered by this heading in accordance with Note 1 (b) to Chapter 94. The heading also covers mirrors, framed or not, having a printed design on one face, provided they retain the essential character of mirrors. However, if the applied design prevents their use as mirrors, such articles fall in heading 7013 as decorative glassware. It should, however, be noted that mirrors constituting parts of furniture of Chapter 94 (e.g., wardrobe doors) are classified with those articles of furniture. The heading excludes: (a) mirrors converted, by the addition of some further part, into articles of a different nature, e.g., certain serving trays with handles (heading 7013); on the other hand, however, plain mirror surfaces for tables are classified in this heading; (b) mirrors whose stands or frames contain precious metal or contain metal clad with precious metal, whether or not ornamented with natural or cultured pearls, or with diamonds, or other precious or semi-precious stones (natural, synthetic or

reconstructed) (other than minor trimmings) (heading 7114), or mirrors whose stands or frames incorporate in any way natural or cultured pearls or precious or semi-precious stones (natural, synthetic or reconstructed) (heading 7116); (c) optically worked mirrors (Chapter 90) (see the relevant Explanatory Notes) (d) mirrors combined with other elements and forming part of toys, games or hunting or shooting requisites (e.g., joke mirrors) (Chapter 95); (e) mirrors of an age exceeding 100 years (heading 9706).
