7301 20 00 — Sheet piling of iron or steel, whether or not drilled, punched or made from assembled elements; welded angles, shapes and sections, of iron or steel: angles, shapes and sections

Sheet piling of iron or steel, whether or not drilled, punched or made from assembled elements; welded angles, shapes and sections, of iron or steel: angles, shapes and sections

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Explanatory notes to heading 7301 2 paragraphs

Machine translation from Russian. The original is the EEC explanatory note, and that is what a classification dispute is argued from; the translation is for understanding and has no legal force.

7301 Structures of ferrous metals, drilled or undrilled, perforated or non-perforated, monolithic or made of prefabricated elements; corners, shaped and special profiles welded, of ferrous metals: 7301 10 – constructions of scab 7301 20 – corners, shaped and special profiles

Sheet piling consists of sections obtained by rolling, drawing, extrusion, bending on presses or on roll-forming machines, or by assembling rolled parts (e.g., by riveting, welding, crimping). These sections can be joined to one another either simply by interlocking or by overlapping their longitudinal edges. For this purpose both types of such piling have, at least on the longitudinal edges, joining devices (e.g., grooves, flanges, tongues). This heading includes: (1) Corner or ribbed parts of sheet piling, which are sections designed to form corners; for this purpose either bent sections are used, or sections cut along their entire length, the parts so obtained then being welded or riveted at an angle to each other. (2) Junction sections of sheet piling with three or four branches for forming partition walls. (3) Junction sections of sheet piling whose shape enables them to be used for joining different types of sheet piling. (4) Channel sheet piling and columns which are driven into the ground in such a way that they are joined without positive interlocking. Channel sheet piling is corrugated in shape. Sheet piling columns are made of two sections welded together. Sheet piling is used mainly for building walls in sandy, water-saturated or submerged soils for civil engineering works such as dams, dikes or trenches. This heading also covers welded angles, shapes and sections. The Explanatory Note to heading 7216 applies, mutatis mutandis, to sections obtained by welding. The heading excludes: (a) Welded hollow profiles (heading 7306). (b) Sheet piling assembled into piles, which has no "locks" for external joining (heading 7308).

Notes

English text as published in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2021/1832 (Combined Nomenclature). The EAEU tariff and the EU nomenclature copy these notes from the same convention. For a Russian declaration the binding version is the Russian one: Annex to Decision No 80 of the EEC Council of 14 September 2021.

1. In this chapter, the expression ‘cast iron’ applies to products obtained by casting in which iron predominates by weight over each of the other elements and which do not comply with the chemical composition of steel as defined in note 1(d) to Chapter 72.

2. In this chapter, the word ‘wire’ means hot- or cold-formed products of any cross-sectional shape, of which no cross-sectional dimension exceeds 16 mm.

1. Drilling pipes are used for descent into a borehole and lifting a rock-destroying tool, transferring rotation, creating an axial load on the tool, supplying a washing fluid or compressed air to the bottom. There are ordinary, weighted and leading drill pipes.

Ordinary drill pipes (heading 7304) - usually one-piece round cross-section, are connected by means of drill locks or semi-locks with special large conical threads.

Weighted drill pipes (heading 8431) are usually round or square cross-sections with an increased wall thickness; they are also connected by thread and serve to increase the stiffness of the lower part of the column and to place a load on the rock-destroying tool.

Leading drill pipes (heading 8431) - multifaceted cross-section, are placed at the top of the column of drill pipes and transmit it rotation from the rotator of the drilling rig.
