7606 11 91 — Plates, sheets and strip, of non-alloy aluminium, of a thickness of > 0.2 mm but < 3 mm, square or rectangular (excl. such products painted, varnished or coated with plastics, and expanded plates, sheets and strip)

Plates, sheets and strip, of non-alloy aluminium, of a thickness of > 0.2 mm but < 3 mm, square or rectangular (excl. such products painted, varnished or coated with plastics, and expanded plates, sheets and strip)

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

Explanatory notes to heading 7606 3 paragraphs

Machine translation from Russian. The original is the EEC explanatory note, and that is what a classification dispute is argued from; the translation is for understanding and has no legal force.

7606 Plates, sheets, strips or tapes aluminum thickness of more than 0.2 mm: – rectangular (including square): 7606 11 – from aluminum unalloyed 7606 12 – from aluminum alloys – other: 7606 91 – from aluminum non-alloyed 7606 92 – from aluminum alloys

These articles, as defined in Note 1(d) to this Chapter, correspond to similar articles of copper. The explanatory note to heading 7409 therefore applies, mutatis mutandis, to this heading. This heading does not cover: (a) foil not more than 0.2 mm thick (heading 7607);

(b) the exhaust sheet (heading 7616).

1. The terms used in this chapter mean:

(a) "non-alloy aluminum" means a metal containing at least 99 % by weight of aluminium, provided that the mass content of each of the other elements does not exceed the limits specified in the following table:

Other elements

Element

Maximum content, wt.%

Fe+Si

(iron plus silicon)

1.0

Other elements (each of them)

0.1

Other elements include, for example, Cr, Cu, Mg, Mn, Ni, Zn.

Copper content is allowed in quantities greater than 0.1 wt.%, but not more than 0.2 wt.%, provided that the content of chromium or manganese is not more than 0.05 wt.%.

(b) "aluminum alloys" means metal alloys in which the aluminium content by mass exceeds that of each of the other elements contained in the alloy, provided that:

(i) the mass content of at least one of the other elements or iron and silicon taken together will exceed the mass limit indicated in the table; or

(ii) the total content of other elements is more than 1% by weight.

2. Notwithstanding the provisions of note 9 (c) to section XV, for the purposes of subheading 7616 91, the term “wire” means only articles rolled up or not rolled into coves and with any shape of cross-section not exceeding 6 mm.

1. In subheading 7601 20 200, the following terms mean:

- "slabs" - raw products having a continuous cross-section throughout the length in the form of rectangles or other polygons, with a width of more than 800 mm, a thickness of more than 280 mm and a length always exceeding the width and thickness. These products are intended for rolling;

- "tickets" - raw products having a continuous cross-section in the form of circles (including "flattened circles"), with a diameter of more than 125 mm. These products are designed for extruding.
