9620 00 00 — Monopods, bipods, tripods and similar articles

Monopods, bipods, tripods and similar articles

Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.

9620 Monopores, bipeds, tripods and similar articles

This heading covers monopores, bipeds, tripods and the like, which serve as stands for cameras, camcorders, precision cameras.

Measuring devices, etc., to reduce random movements. They may be of variable length, are usually portable and may be equipped with a quick-removal device or head for easy installation and dismantling of the apparatus or measuring instrument. These products can be made of various materials, such as wood, aluminum, carbon or combinations thereof. A monopore is a stand on a single support, sometimes called a "monopod." Biped - a stand on two supports, providing stability along the two axes of displacement. Tripod - a stand on three supports, providing high stability of the installed device. For the purpose of this heading, the term “similar articles” means devices with four or more supports which perform the same function of reducing random movements as monopores, bipeds and tripods. This heading also includes self-portrait tripods, also called “selfie studs”, designed more for holding in hand than for installation on the ground, which are used for taking self-portraits (“selfies”) with a smartphone, camera, digital camera or video camera installed in a certain position in the mount at the end of the tripod, regardless of whether or not such tripods are equipped with wired or wireless remote control. This heading does not cover: (a) microphone stands (heading 8518); (b) racks for holding musical instruments (e.g. small drums or saxophones) (heading 9209); and (c) monopores, bipeds, tripods and similar articles specially designed for use with articles of Chapter 93.
