Carbides, whether or not chemically defined: of silicon
Names come in English where the EU Combined Nomenclature publishes them — chapters, headings and subheadings, whose first six digits are the same Harmonized System; deeper EAEU detail is a machine translation, marked as such. Official texts — tariff notes, measures, lists and classification rulings — are the original: customs and your broker go by that wording. Where we show a machine translation of them, it is marked; where our quality check rejected one, the Russian stays.
Machine translation. The original is the Russian text of the EAEU tariff, and customs goes by it; this translation is for understanding only and has no legal force.
This is the base rate. A tariff quota, a preference for the country of origin and a tariff exemption lower it; anti-dumping and special duties are paid on top of it
EEC Council Decision No. 80 of 14.09.2021
None: russian bans and restrictions, mandatory labelling, recycling fee, conformity assessment, EAEU non-tariff regulation, trade defence measures — duty on top of the tariff, tariff quota.
Whether a measure applies to your goods depends on their characteristics and the shipping documents
The general import rate in Russia: Tax Code of Russia, Art. 164(3) (Federal Law No. 425-FZ of 28.11.2025). This code is not named on the 10% VAT list (Decree No. 908) or the exemption list (No. 1042). The list of medical goods No. 688 is not checked here.

Duty for this code: 5%. On top of the duty, on import into Russia you pay VAT of 22% of the customs value including the duty (Article 160 of the Tax Code) and the customs processing fee — a fixed amount by value band. Customs value: the price of the goods, delivery to the border, local costs.
CCT rate: the EAEU CCT as amended by Решение Совета ЕЭК № 80 от 14.09.2021, from 01.01.2022; our register has no later decisions on the rate for this code.

2849 Carbides, defined or indefinite chemical composition: 2849 10 – calcium 2849 20 – silicon 2849 90 – other
This heading covers: (A) Binary carbides, which are compounds of carbon with elements more electropositive than carbon. Compounds known as acetylides or acetylenides are also classified in this heading. The most well-known binary carbides are (1) calcium carbide (CaC2). In its pure form - a transparent colorless solid, in the presence of impurities - opaque, gray. Decomposes with water to release acetylene; used to produce acetylene or calcium cyanamide. (2) Silicon carbide (SiC) (carbon silicide). It is obtained by processing carbon and silicon in an electric furnace. Black crystals, chunks or shapeless mass, crushed or in grains. Melted with great difficulty; chemically resistant reagent; has some degree of refraction, hard as a diamond, but much more fragile. It is used as an abrasive and as a refractory product; in a mixture with graphite - for lining furnaces or high-temperature furnaces. It is also used for the production of silicon. This heading does not include silicon carbide in the form of powder or grains on a cloth, paper, cardboard or other basis (heading 6805) or in the form of grinding circles, grinding stones for hand sharpening or polishing, etc. (heading 6804). (3) Carbide b ora (borocarbon). Received by processing graphite and boric acid in an electric furnace; black shiny solid crystals. It is used as an abrasive, for drilling rocks, in the production of tools or electrodes. (4) Aluminum carbide (Al4C3). Received in e-ectric ovens when heating aluminum oxide with coke; transparent yellow crystals or flakes. It decomposes with water and releases methane. (5) Zirconium carbide (ZrC). It is obtained in electric furnaces from zirconium oxide and soot; it decomposes upon contact with air and water. It is used in the manufacture of lamps. (6) Barium carbide (BaC2). Usually obtained in electric furnaces; brownish crystal mass. Decomposes with water with the release of acetylene. (7) Tungsten carbides. It is obtained in electric furnaces from metal powder or tungsten oxide and soot; the powder does not decompose with water, has a very high chemical stability. It has a high melting point; very hard and resistant to heating. Its conductivity is similar to that of metals, and it interacts easily with ferrous metals. It is used in solid sintered compositions, for example, in agglomerates for the production of cutting tool tips (usually together with a binder such as cobalt or nickel). (8) Other carbides. Carbides of molybdenum, vanadium, titanium, tantalum or niobium are obtained from metal powders or oxides of these metals and soot in electric furnaces; used for the same purposes as tungsten carbide. There are also carbides of chromium and manganese. (B) Carbides consisting of genus carbon in combination with more than one metal, e.g. (Ti, W)C.
(C) Compounds consisting of one or more metals combined with carbon and another non-metallic element, e.g., aluminium borocarbide, zirconium carbonitride, titanium carbonitride. The proportions of the elements in some of these compounds may not be stoichiometric. However, mechanical mixtures are excluded. The heading further excludes: (a) binary compounds of carbon with the following elements: oxygen (heading 2811), halogens (heading 2812 or 2903), sulphur (heading 2813), precious metals (heading 2843), nitrogen (heading 2853), hydrogen (heading 2901); (b) mixtures of metal carbides, not agglomerated but prepared for making plates, sticks, tips, etc., e.g., for tools (heading 3824); (c) iron-carbon alloys of Chapter 72, such as white pig iron, irrespective of their composition; (d) mixtures of agglomerated metal carbides in the form of plates, sticks, tips and similar articles for tools (heading 8209).
